The CODE LiFE Research Awards recognize deserving researchers by funding their projects with millions of dollars from the Montreal General Hospital Foundation.

Thanks to its philanthropic families and friends, the MGH Foundation provides annual funding to brilliant, dedicated and deserving research candidates, thus allowing the hospital to attract and retain world-class clinicians and researchers.

Collaboration makes progress possible, which is why we are fortunate to have the Cedars Cancer Foundation join us this year in presenting new oncology awards to outstanding researchers.

This Year: A Tribute to Dr. Phil Gold

In a career spanning 60 years, Dr. Gold has achieved legendary status for his achievements in cancer and immunology research, clinical practice, hospital administration and teaching. Today, he has more letters after his name than the alphabet, and so many awards and distinctions that he can’t name them all.

Phil Gold is an exceptional person, for his charming personality, but also for his groundbreaking discoveries. Responsible for the discovery of the first cancer marker, the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), his career has made a lasting gift to humanity, which is why the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre will soon be named in his honour and the 2023 CODE LiFE Research Awards will celebrate his career and mentorship.
