Simultaneously pursuing a university education and participating in elite sports is a daunting challenge. That’s why, in 2019, Serge Savard created the largest fund in the history of the Université de Sherbrooke dedicated to helping the student athletes of the Vert & Or. The fund allows student athletes to focus all their energies to excel in both their studies and their sport. In 2022, $400,000 was awarded in the form of scholarships.

Created during the celebrations surrounding the 100th anniversary of the Canadiens Hockey Club, the Centennial Emergency Fund provides financial assistance to former Montreal Canadiens players when they face difficulties that threaten or jeopardize their short-term health and well-being. Funding is available to help cover the costs of essential needs such as basic living expenses and urgent health care. The Fund also ensures that former Canadians are referred to other resources to supplement the assistance provided or to address longer-term needs.
