Mixed Reality: Innovation in Surgery
Our guests are two engineers, both recipients of Research Awards. They are bringing to life a leap in innovation that aims to support and empower heart surgeons and improve outcomes for cardiac surgery patients. Amir Hooshiar, Ph.D., Director of the Surgical Robotics Centre, and Amir Sayadi, a Ph.D. student in Experimental Surgery and Medical Robotics at McGill, are two of the co-founders of Holo-Ray. This mixed reality platform can create a 3D model of a heart to be used by physicians during surgery, planning and training. Hosted by journalist Annie DeMelt.
“I can see less of surgeons’ muscles being used in surgery and more of their brains.”- Amir Hooshiar, Ph.D., Director of the McGill Surgical Robotics Centre.
